Noh Masks
In Japan a no-mask is called No-Men respectively No-Omote (german: face / surface).
By handing down some 250 types of masks have developed to represent different characters, of which about 60 are often used. There are female masks, men masks, monster masks and gods masks. The shape of the masks known today grew up in the late 17th Century.
For the presentation of a grown man, the actor wears no mask. Only to play to women, gods and monsters, he must wear a mask. Each mask has its own name.
The design of masks can sometimes be very complex. There are No-masks, which have become known as works of art.
